The stable edition of Ubuntu 15.04 (Vivid Vervet) is just around the corner, so this is a good time to take a look at the features that are going to be implemented in the new release and see what important packages have been updated.

Changes galore, but most of them under the hood

Systemd replaces Upstart

The Linux kernel has been upgraded

Unity and Compiz get minor upgrades

Locally Integrated Menus are now default

A new wallpaper has been implemented

All the major apps have been upgraded

 

Osserviamo che tra il 2013 ed il 2014 Ubuntu Desktop Linux ed il Kernel Linux hanno radicalmente cambiato l’utilizzo desktop. Infatti le prestazioni, soprattutto grafiche e disco, sono passate da quasi inadeguate a più che brillanti. Mantenendo invariata la piattaforma di riferimento, bulldozer,  la differenza in termini di prestazione non è solo evidente, ma stupisce.

Anche la versione Ubuntu Server è migliorata, per dire su HP Gen7 e Gen8, l’installazione era traballante e  la prestazione verso i dischi erano non accettabili, ora tutto procede secondo le aspettative senza sorprese.
